April trivia questions and answers will share that, The month of April is ideal for meteor showers. The Lyrids meteor shower, which occurs every year from April 16th to April 26th, is one of them. The Eta Aquariids meteor shower, which begins on April 21st, is another one to look out for.

April is the fourth month of the year in the Gregorian calendar, the fifth in the early Julian calendar, and the first of four months with a duration of 30 days, as well as the second of five with a length of fewer than 31 days.

April is usually linked with fall in parts of the Southern Hemisphere and spring in sections of the Northern Hemisphere, where it is the Southern Hemisphere’s seasonal counterpart to October and vice versa.

The Latin name Aprilis was given to this month by the Romans, although its origin is unknown. The conventional derivation is derived from the verb aperire, which means “to open,” in reference to the season when trees and flowers begin to “open,” as evidenced by the contemporary Greek word o (ánixi) (opening) for spring.

April was dedicated to the goddess Venus, and her Veneralia was held on the first day, therefore it has been argued that Aprilis was originally her month Aphrilis, from her corresponding Greek goddess name Aphrodite (Aphros), or from the Etruscan name Apru. Aper or Aprus, according to Jacob Grimm, is the name of a mythical deity or hero.

Cerealia was a seven-day celebration held in Ancient Rome from mid-to-late April, but specific dates are unknown. Feriae Latinae was likewise celebrated in April, although on a different day each year. Veneralia (April 1), Megalesia (April 10–16), Fordicidia (April 15), Parilia (April 21), Vinalia Urbana, Robigalia, and Serapia were all ancient Roman observances (April 25). Floralia took place on April 27, or April 28 on the Julian calendar, during the Republican era, and continued until May 3. These dates, however, do not match the contemporary Gregorian calendar.

April was the second month of the early Roman calendar before King Numa Pompilius added Ianuarius and Februarius about 700 BC. It was granted 29 days and became the fourth month of the calendar year (the year in which the twelve months are presented in sequence) during the reign of the decemvirs around 450 BC. The 30th day was introduced during Julius Caesar’s calendar reform in the mid-40s BC, which resulted in the Julian calendar.

Each year, the Lyrids meteor shower occurs between April 16 and April 26, with the peak usually happening on April 22. In April, the Eta Aquariids meteor shower appears. Each year, it may be seen from April 21 to May 20, with peak activity on or around May 6. The Pi Puppids emerge on April 23, but only in years when the parent comet is nearing its perihelion. In April, the Virginids also rain at various times.

The “Days of April” (journées d’avril) are a term used in French history to refer to a series of insurgencies against Louis Philippe’s administration in 1834, which resulted in brutal repressive measures and a renowned trial known as the procès d’avril. (source: Wikipedia)
